YouTube でみつけた動画です。BBCで放送された，Richard Dawkins のインタビュー。
リチャード・ドーキンスは，「利己的な遺伝子」("Selfish Gene" )で有名な生物学者ですが，宗教批判を展開した「神は妄想である―宗教との決別」("The God Delusion")を出版して話題となり，宗教界などの人々からは攻撃を受けています。
このBBCのインタビューでも，MCはやたらと攻撃的です。
英語としては全体的には聞き取りやすい方でしょう。イギリス英語なので慣れていない方は，ちょっと異和感があるかも。
MCは，Dawkins の宗教批判そのものより，宗教批判の激しさを攻撃しているので，いまいち議論に進展がない。
使われている英語は，結構高級ですね。以下は耳に付いたidiomaticな表現。
sit on the fence 日和見的態度をとる
come (down) off the fence 態度を決める
push the envelope ぎりぎりまで押し進める
in-your-face way 攻撃的に
buy into ～ ～に賛成する
以下は，MCが，「あんたの信ずる無神論もひどいことをやってきたじゃないか」という批判に対しての Dawkins の反論。
[8:15] There’s a distinction between somebody doing something in the name of religion and somebody doing something who happens to have a religion, now if, say, Hitler was a Roman Catholic, which he was, I would not know anybody would wish to say that the reason he did terrible things he did was because he was a Roman Catholic. Similarly, Stalin was an atheist, but (..the reason ..) he didn’t do anything bad in the name of atheist.
